SMAWL benefit performance Saturday, May 7th at 3pm!

Support your four legged furry friends by bringing them to SMAWL’s (St. Mary’s Animal Welfare League) Annual Animal Fair on Saturday, May 7th at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds.

We perform at 3pm!

This event will have non-stop demonstrations, pet games, vendors, microchipping, a pet pageant, equine demonstrations, a pet parade and much more!

DCTribal Cafe – March 27!

We’ll be performing this Sunday at one of our favoritistest venues – DCTribal Cafe! It is a challenging space for a troupe, but the audience and the vibe is always so incredible. Also performing this month are Mavi, DC’s Blue Maven of Danger and Naimah, the Long and Lean Mean Shimmy Machine!

Performance for ECAC fundraiser

Troupe ‘Hip’notic will be performing as part of a fundraiser show for the Emergence Community Arts Collective . It will take place at Phase 1 on Friday January 21st at 9pm. Details on the performers to follow.

The Emergence Community Arts Collective is a non-profit organization whose mission is to foster a spirit of community in the Pleasant Plains neighborhood of Washington, DC, through social activities, traditional arts classes, support groups and educational seminars.

Troupe ‘Hip’notic is gearing up for a 2011 filled with travel to festivals near and far! Between airfare, gas, hotels, workshops…not to mention costumes and shopping…for 6 dancers, this gets very expensive very quickly! We’ve been fundraising for a while to help us along, but we’ve added an easy PayPal donation function to our page in case anyone would like to contribute to our cause…every little helps!
Where are we headed, you ask? Well…here are some definite travel plans, as well as some hopefuls:

In February we are thrilled to be performing at TribalCon in Atlanta, GA
In March we’ll be headed to Art of the Belly in Ocean City, MD

Troupe ‘Hip’notic is excited to welcome Alison, their newest troupe member! Alison has been working with the troupe since January to learn our new routines, discover our craziness and figure out whether she’s ready to follow us down the rabbit hole…and she’s jumping in with both feet! Her debut performance with the troupe will be at the April DCTribal Cafe show, and followed quickly by Spring Caravan! Talk about baptism by fire…
